Our Story

Empty C Publishing spent a long time in the lands of What-If and Maybe.  What if we failed? What if no one read or liked us? Maybe we should stick with the traditional and... What-If and Maybe. It got us nowhere for a very long time.  And then (the inciting incident to our tale) our founder was hit by a van while commuting by bike.

The accident was enough to wake him from his general lethargy. However, a year later, nothing particularly changed, he found himself again on the asphalt, again with bloody contusions and a broken bone (this outing the right humorous).

The slow, steady having not worked, he turned to the abrupt and drastic. Within six months he'd sold everything, got married (actually eloped to Las Vegas), and moved to the UK to be with his wife.

For a warmer climate, they transitioned to the south of France. Covid, however, had plans to ruin their plans, which it did quite effectively.  Thus thwarted, they decided to move closer to family (most located in Beaverton, OR, a suburb of Portland). They raised shield and sword and marched (he blindly optimistic, she resolutely pessimistic) into the gauntlet of US immigration.

Two years later, having survived the form and document filing maelstrom, and been adopted by a stray kitty, and losing another, they settled in Mcminnville. Once the cheap couch was assembled and the lovely set of cookware (a gift from their sister-in-law) placed in a cupboard, well, there was little else to do and no more excuses (at least none he could see, particularly since he'd stopped riding the bike).

Hence, out of a sense of personal necessity and a vague desire to administer "a spoonful of sugar," Empty C Publishing was founded.

ECP's Values:

We believe in stories that challenge but entertain.

We believe reading is fundamental to a healthy human.

We believe stories can and do make a difference.

We believe, regardless how small the change may seem, it will and does affect the future.

We believe Everyone is entitled to tell their story. Period. Though, if that story isn't guided/told with love, acceptance, and understanding, please reconsider why you need to tell it. Nature doesn't care, why should you?

And, finally, lastly, your words matter.  Don't waste them. Simply use them for good. Please.

Wishing you and yours health and happiness,

--Empty C Publishing
